Spanish Omelette – Chorizo, Potatoes, Tomatoes and Onions

Mixed reviews, one dish was great, the other not so much, but overall, they were so accommodating, friendly, and flexible that I’d give it a second chance and give them the benefit of the doubt.

I love love love the fact that they have breakfast all day every day and that it’s a rare place in London that is open 24 hours. VQ stands for vingt quatre (24 in French) and is a French owned and operated place. Almost all the workers are French.

We ordered one Spanish omelette and one make your own omelette.

Spanish Omelette – chorizo sausage, potatoes, tomatoes and onions. This was ok. The chorizo was not good quality and we picked most of it out, which really put a damper on the taste. Served with (packaged-seeming) toast.

Egg-White Omelette with Spinach and Tomatoes

Make your own – egg white omelette with fresh spinach and fresh tomatoes. This was great. Egg white omelettes can easily be so bland and blah, but when you have one that actually has good flavor, then you know it’s done right. Also, I loved the fact that they didn’t make it half the size of the regular omelette. Sometimes they don’t compensate for the fact that it’s egg white only, even if they charge you extra. This one did, so the two omelettes were about the same size. Served with salad.

VQ (1)Now another thing I’m not crazy about are open-faced omelettes (kind of like a thin frittata). This place has open-faced ones, which is a negative. But I just can’t get over the fact that they have make your own options and 24 hour service. That is so American! Also, love the fact that they bring the check with a small jar of smarties to end on.

Reservations were not needed for Saturday lunch – place was mostly empty. They also have a Chelsea branch, which we haven’t been to.
