The Real Greek is a casual chain of Greek restaurants located in key parts of London. We’ve been to the one in Spitalfields, but all of them serve the same menu and I’d imagine are of similar quality. While we haven’t tried the main meals and mezzes here, we can vouch for the quality of the souvlaki. They offer several kinds of traditional meat, chicken, and vegetable souvlaki wraps that all come in a soft, grilled, flavorful Greek pita wrap with great tzatziki sauce and fresh veggies (tomatoes, lettuce, etc.). They have two vegetarian options, the grilled halloumi and the roasted veggie, if you’d prefer no meat. We haven’t tried the roasted veggie, but for those who like halloumi, the grilled halloumi souvlaki is a great option. Do note, though, that it is quite salty, though this may be more a comment on halloumi itself than the souvlaki as a whole.
In terms of nice, chain restaurants, I’d say this is definitely one of the better ones. You don’t really feel as though you’re at a chain and I think the food is relatively authentically prepared. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable and it’s a good bet if you’re in the mood for Greek food. Particularly because there aren’t tons of Greek options in London as it is.
