The Cavendish is a nice, comfortable, upscale gastro pub located in Marylebone and not to be confused with a hotel of the same name in Piccadilly. I believe it was newly renovated and everything looks nice and fresh. While I didn’t love this place, I cannot say enough good things about the customer service. They are extremely accommodating with any requests, substitutions, or customizations, and that is absolutely not the case for many places around town.
At the time we first discovered this place, they had a different menu than they currently do, though they immediately accommodated any requests for items off the previous menu and said that we could order them anytime, any day, no advance warning even necessary. I do greatly appreciate this hospitality.
We ordered the Cavendish burger (currently available) and the egg white omelette with spinach and green beans (from their previous menu). Never heard of an omelette with spinach and green beans, but it sure sounded quite healthy.
The burger was small, but quite good. Served with mature cheddar, jalapeno mayo, and a small side of fries. Good quality meat.
The white omelette was a wreck. I cannot describe how oily it was. The spinach and green beans were soaked/fried/drenched in oil to an unpalatable degree. The omelette itself was swimming in it. It was so exaggerated it was inedible and more than half went to waste.
It doesn’t seem to be very busy, or at least for dining purposes and I think that’s for good reason. It’s hit or miss and even the good isn’t great. I’d say it’s good for pub food, but for all the frill and expense, it doesn’t live up. I’d pass and go elsewhere.
