So Saturday around 7:45 pm for a table of 2 there was only about a 10 minute wait. My recommendation is to book in advance for sure no matter what your party size because why not? The queue can get quite long and it isn’t entirely predictable, so you might as well be safe.
Shortly after we got in the queue, it became quite long quite quickly. A group of 10 behind us was told it would be a 1.5 – 2 hour wait.
Now, the staff is mostly fun and jovial. There are a couple of servers who were a bit cold and impatient, but generally, people are smiley and friendly. The expediter at the front (who passes the dishes to the servers upon receiving it from the kitchen) is super friendly.
The food here is really interesting – you’ll see a few things here that they don’t have elsewhere. I would recommend actually going with a Punjabi dish instead of something you can get anywhere (like a generic tikka masala or korma) to make the experience more unique.
We went with the acharri murgha and chicken malai tikka.
Acharri Murgha – a classic Punajbi chicken dish, with a pickled sauce, medium spiced, and a bit tangy. Now let me say a word about the pickling – the sauce is flavored with pickles in the cooking process, but there are no actual pickles in it. The pickle taste is also certainly not overwhelming, which I was quite afraid of. This was a delicious, unique, flavorful dish and I would highly recommend it. I haven’t tasted much like it before and I would absolutely get it again.
Chicken Malai Tikka – chicken breast marinated with cream, cheese, and yogurt, cooked in the tandoori, and served sizzling with onions on a skillet. This dish was just ok, but nothing special. I expected much more from the dish. The chicken was super soft, tender, and creamy, but there was almost no flavor and it wasn’t interesting.
The hariyali chicken tikka really caught my eye, but I was too afraid to try it because it apparently has a very very strong coriander taste (with some mint as well) and some of the servers seemed to think it could be overwhelming. Given how unflavorful the malai tikka was, I think I’d rather something much stronger next time.
We also got steamed rice and naan, which I wouldn’t say was one of the better ones I’ve had.
Overall though, I was happy with the meal, the staff, and the acharri. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try.
