First Visit:
Jacques Torres was there this afternoon. He’s a nice and polite guy. I liked him.
I tried the flourless chocolate cake. It has quite a large amount of ganache on top. After a while, you don’t really know whether you are eating the cake portion of it or the ganache portion of it because both are so dense, which is great and exactly how a flourless chocolate cake should be. The only thing odd is a slightly bizarre flavor throughout.
The cookies look great, too. Didn’t try one, but if I were in the area again I would.
Second Visit:
So, I got the chocolate chip cookie mentioned above!
It’s really great. The quality of the chocolate is obvious from the moment you take a bite, which really makes the cookie. I can’t immediately remember eating a cookie in which better quality chocolate was used – and I’ve eaten cookies from everywhere in this city. Also, it’s not too sweet, which is fantastic. I hate chocolate chip cookies that taste like sugar.
So why not 5 stars? Well, the texture is not the best it could be in my opinion. I know some people will love it, but the edges are too hard and crispy for my taste. The inside is still somewhat soft, but I think overall it’s just a tad overdone. Also, it’s quite a thin cookie, and I prefer cookies thicker. Makes it softer, generally, and doughier instead of crispy like a cracker.
Cookie is a nice, large size and the staff was really friendly and let me sample the cookie before buying.
