I really don’t get some of the negativity about this place. We didn’t experience any of the bad service that we’d heard about. Yes, it is true that this restaurant relies heavily on the fact that it offers a unique technology experience that other restaurants do not and I think they absolutely should rely on it. Clearly, you go here for that experience. If you just want regular sushi, there are a million other places to choose, so the experience becomes part of the draw.
We had a great time here. Once you are seated, the server shows you how to use the technology on the table, which is super simple. Using the table-top technology, you can set your own table cloth, play games, activate the chef/kitchen camera, call your server, and request the bill. You can also browse the menu and see pictures of every dish and drink.
Because you order using this software, you can order any time and as many items you want throughout the course of your meal. The menu is set up mostly as a Japanese small plates concept, but they do also have a few entrée sized options and 6 or so sushi rolls. They do not have a large variety of sushi, so don’t go if you want 30 options to choose from. Most people we saw didn’t order sushi, but rather other Japanese/pan-Asian small plate dishes to share.
The sushi they do have, however, is definitely good quality. Yes portions are small and relatively expensive, but again, you are paying for the technology and the experience. If you aren’t willing to do that, go elsewhere. We tried the kappa maki (cucumber), the vegetable roll (avocado, cream cheese, scallion, cucumber), and the seared salmon roll (salmon on top of the roll). All of them were great. They have a chili powder mix that they make themselves (they take the traditional S&K Japanese chili powder mix and add salt and orange peel to it), which I found to be way too salty, but that I’m sure many people would like. I requested the S&K straight from the bottle without the added extras.
We tried a couple of games throughout our meal. You can play with other people at your table, so we had a go at battleship. It was a nice change of pace to do something like that during dinner as a one-time experience. I’d imagine kids and teens would love it and would want to go often. For adults, it’s perhaps only worth it a few times or just if you have friends in town.
Service was not bad at all. Everyone was attentive and plenty of servers were around in case you needed someone to flag down face-to-face. They are also responsive to the call button on the table as well.
Bathrooms are very clean and well decorated. The ambiance in 
general is great and there are nice bamboo trunks throughout. It’s spacious and calm. I’d recommend giving the place a try just for the experience, but be prepared to pay extra for smaller portions.
