Don Antonio is a great Neapolitan pizzeria, primed for success as it’s affiliated with Chef Roberto Caporuscio of Keste and Antonio Starita, third generation owner of one of Naples’ oldest pizzerias, Pizzeria Starita a Materdei.
Generally you don’t need a reservation for lunch or dinner, but this is mostly due to its size (much larger than most pizzerias) and location (Midtown West) and not a reflection of its quality. Simple decor, spacious, comfortable, but nothing special.
The marinara and the margherita are both well executed with room for improvement. Though the pizzeria is affiliated with Keste, it is a step down and tastes different. The marinara, for instance, is less garlicky and less flavorful than Keste’s. And the mozzarella on the margherita isn’t as good quality. Also the crust is sometimes too charred. Still, it’s great compared to most Neapolitan places and I’d recommend it if you’re in the area.
