This is am amazing store dedicated to chocolate in all its forms. It’s not just a chocolatier, it’s not just a bakery, it’s everything. You want chocolate? You’ll get it here. I’ve never actually seen a store that has such a large variety of chocolate offerings.
The store has two levels. On the ground floor you can buy unique chocolates, take-away cakes, and beverages, and browse the beautiful and ornate displays of chocolate creations. It’s usually packed. On the second floor, there is a café, where you can enjoy their beverages and cakes to stay. It’s tiny and as such there is almost always a queue. While the queue itself is not that long (perhaps only 2 to 10 groups long at any given time), it can take 30 minutes – 1 hour because of the café’s small size.
When we went, we intended to sit at the café and try their hot chocolate/desserts, but the queue prevented us. Instead, we ordered two cakes takeaway and decided to save the hot chocolate tasting for another time (we still need to do that).
Naturally, we got their chocolate cake – two layers of chocolate with a thin (yay!) layer of chocolate frosting on the inside and top. Great cake. Moist and simple. I’d get it again.
We also got their super unique cake – the taster cake. The taster cake is a six layer cake that is made up the layers cakes they have each day with six distinct sponges and additionally six distinct fillings. I believe the sponge layers were: chocolate, lemon, amaretto, coconut, chocolate Guinness, and ginger sponges with different fillings in between. It’s such a unique concept and, while you may not like every layer, the whole thing is so fun. The cake is quite large, good quality, and I’d highly recommend this to anyone up for a bit of adventure.
Please do stop by this place, if for no other reason than just to check out the concept. It’s worth a look even if you don’t bother to wait for the café.
