Cheeky Sandwiches

Chicken Biscuit
Chicken Biscuit

Listen, you gotta take this place for what it is, and if you do, it’s really amazing. No frills, not fancy, grungy, small, cold little sandwich shop that has no signage or menu really. You just kind of order what you know to order and they make it and give it to you. And what should you order, you ask? Well, they’re known for the chicken biscuit sandwich, which I’d say is an absolute must. They have beef, pork, shrimp, and veggie options, which all actually seem quite great (the veggie options are very innovative, so vegetarians will certainly not feel gypped), but it’s a shame that the only sandwich on a biscuit is the chicken one. So, if you’re inclined to order something other than the chicken, get a biscuit on the side. It’s really one of the only good, proper biscuits in NYC.

Sandwiches come wrapped in paper. We asked for a plate, but hilariously were told that another guy was using their only plate!

No one is going to dote on you, but the food is legit, as are the people. The staff is friendly, willing to engage, and answer questions. The food is entirely made from scratch, cooked to order, with fresh, mostly local ingredients (baguettes are shipped from N.O.). Cafe du Monde coffee cans are everywhere and it’s a nice throw back to the local joints in New Orleans.

N.O. style kettle cooked ships (jalapeno, creole sweet onion, crawfish flavors), fresh made hot beignets, and cajun sandwiches.

The chicken biscuit really is awesome. White meat chicken lighted battered and deep fried with gravy, red cabbage, and served in a home-made, warm, soft, and delicious biscuit. Glad to see this place is still going strong after all these years. If I’m to be honest, I didn’t think it would last, but I’m super happy it did. No complaints. All good. You should go.
