Pros: The only place you can get a good, fresh bagel, baked throughout the day, in London. On Brick Lane. And it’s open 24 hours, which is so NYC, anyway. Ok well technically, there is one other bagel shop two doors down which serves essentially the same things and is also 24 hours. I don’t see any difference between these two places, so take your pick.
But beggars can’t be choosers in this city with its dearth of proper Jewish deli foods!
This is a grab and go shop. They are known for salt beef sandwiches on the plain bagel and that’s really why you go here. I myself go here for just a bagel and cream cheese. They also had a special of rainbow bagels for a while, influenced by the trend in NYC. They were just as delicious as the plain bagels and a fun picture op.
They also have your other bagel classics like liver, chopped herring, eggs and a number of traditional sweets.
It’s take away and cash only. There are no seats and it’s not meant for that anyway. This place fits a very specific purpose. And if you’re ever starving at 3 in the morning, you know where to go. Chances are, you won’t be the only one there.
