Fantastic place, fantastic food, fantastic service.
We had reservations for brunch on Saturday, but they didn’t seem necessary. First, the restaurant is comfortable, sophisticated, and charming. It has a light and airy feel while still being higher-end and is not a stuffy place. Second, the service is first-rate. We were greeted and seated promptly, were immediately given menus, and were asked about our water preference.
Once we had a chance to review the menu, our waitress, Villo, greeted us, pleasantly answering all of our questions, and refreshingly giving honest answers to our questions. There is nothing worse than a server who will not give a straight answer about the quality of a dish. If you want the customer to be happy, please be forthright. Villo was fantastic.
Complimentary, fresh, house-baked bread to start. We were given three kinds: whole wheat sourdough, brown loaf bread, and wholemeal soda bread. Great quality breads and such a nice touch.
Superfood egg-white omelette with chia seeds & spinach – good portion, not oily, flavorful, and exactly what you’d look for in an omelette. Healthy, light, highly recommend. I will say the first time this omelette came out, the chef had omitted the chia seeds and when we pointed that out, it was immediately replaced with a fresh made omelette with the chia seeds included. After starting to eat the omelette, though, I realized the chef had also added avocado. Avocado is not mentioned on the menu at all and I very much dislike it. I thought it a waste for them to remake the omelette for a third time, so while I pointed it out to the staff, I had no problem just picking it out. After checking with the chef, the manager informed us that this omelette is always made with avocado, though he conceded that it wasn’t written on the menu and as such, immediately offered to make it complimentary, which was such a nice gesture. Very odd that it isn’t written on the menu since almost everyone would view avocado in the omelette to be an added bonus!
Avocado on toast, grilled tomatoes, chili flakes – upon Villo’s recommendation, we opted for this toast in lieu of the French toast. The avocado was served on home-made multi grain bread with a great portion of fresh avocado, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and chili flakes with two grilled plum tomatoes on the side. It’s a delicious, hearty portion and the lemon flavor does come through. Would definitely recommend this dish.
We had a really enjoyable time here and were made to feel so comfortable and well taken care of. Both Villo and the manager were extremely gracious and friendly, immediately rectifying any mistakes and doing everything possible to ensure satisfaction. On top of that, the food was truly delicious and the environment is lovely.
Adjacent to the dining area is the tea and dessert area. Some highlights for dessert options include: home-made chocolate Guinness cake with bailey’s frosting, strawberry sponge cheesecake, lemon blueberry poppy seed cake, orange rosemary cake, and baked vanilla cheesecake.
We recommend this place wholeheartedly and will absolutely be back.
